Collection: Molea, Bogdan
Bogdan Molea was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1958.
In 1984, he graduated from the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, majoring in Monumental Art, Conservation-Restoration and Art Teaching. This interdisciplinary study alongside close contact with ancient works of art, especially Byzantine frescoes in Romanian medieval architecture, and the influence of the Italian Renaissance defined Molea's interest in technical and cultural aspects of artistic expression.
Figurative and object oriented, Molea deals with concepts of space and perception using the evocative power of dramatic shapes and a strong visual experience. Bogdan Molea's work is a statement for high professionalism, cultural continuity and identity, and the concept of beauty in contemporary artistic creation.
In 1999, Bogdan Molea and his family moved to Toronto, Ontario where he still works and exhibits.
